Someone who never played any previous version of the game nor informed themselves about the contents' origins wouldn't even be able to tell from what the items and monsters they see come from. Isaac's expansions aren't "play this new content separately from the previous expansions / base game", they don't follow this format at all.įor example, if you start a new save with all expansions installed, you'll unlock quite quickly some AB, AB+ and Repentance content, seamlessly integrated within the base game. You don't have to play AB or AB+ on their own, that would be pointless once you've played Repentance. Considering all the content is mixed together throughout the game, and Repentance requires all previous expansions to even run, you'll play with the contents of all other expansions anyway.
